Natural Allignment

The concept of Natural Alignment comes from how feet are designed to walk.  The natural shape of our feet is designed for softer surfaces, such as sand or loose soil, where when the foot strikes the ground the forefoot and heel sink in, and the surface comes up to the arch of the foot (the shaped area under the foot).

In modern times, the majority of the time we walk on hard surfaces.  This can cause issues and pain in the feet in the arches and the heel from inflammation of the Plantar Fascia or from a collapsing arch also known as flat feet.  Indications of falling arches is that your foot appears to be getting longer e.g., if you have gone up a shoe size this may indicate your arch is collapsing.

By providing support to the arch and holding your foot in the correct place this can alleviate discomfort further up the body as your foot being mis-aligned can cause pain further up your body with pressure being put on your ankle, knee, hip and lower back joints.  This diagram has the leg on the left with a flat foot, the red line showing the leg being in the wrong position, as it should be much straighter between the foot and the knee.  The green foot arch is supported and is aligned naturally showing a much straighter leg and so alleviating pressure on those key parts.

Plantar Fasciitis

Plantar fasciitis is a dull to severe pain in your heel caused by a strain and inflammation of your plantar fascia. The plantar fascia is a scientific name for the ligament that joins the heel bone to the forefoot at the base of your five toes. Plantar fasciitis is the name for the condition that develops when that tissue becomes inflamed. When the plantar fascia is excessively stretched, micro‑tears can occur, causing this swelling and subsequent pain.
